M-GCAT: Multiple Genome Comparison and Alignment Tool
نویسندگان
چکیده
M-GCAT Presentation: Due to the steady arrival of new whole genomes, software tools that are able to effectively gather biological information via multiple whole genome comparison are rapidly increasing in demand. While the multiple alignment and comparison of whole genomes can involve various sophisticated techniques and strategies to obtain practical time and space complexities, anchor-based comparison via maximal unique matches (MUMs) have recently gained merit through demonstrated effectiveness and efficiency.

Genome Consortium for Active Teaching: meeting the goals of BIO2010.
The Genome Consortium for Active Teaching (GCAT) facilitates the use of modern genomics methods in undergraduate education. Initially focused on microarray technology, but with an eye toward diversification, GCAT is a community working to improve the education of tomorrow's life science professionals. GCAT participants have access to affordable microarrays, microarray scanners, free software fo...
متن کاملAn analytical framework for optimizing variant discovery from personal genomes
The standardization and performance testing of analysis tools is a prerequisite to widespread adoption of genome-wide sequencing, particularly in the clinic. However, performance testing is currently complicated by the paucity of standards and comparison metrics, as well as by the heterogeneity in sequencing platforms, applications and protocols. Here we present the genome comparison and analyt...
متن کاملEfficient multiple genome alignment
MOTIVATION To allow a direct comparison of the genomic DNA sequences of sufficiently similar organisms, there is an urgent need for software tools that can align more than two genomic sequences. RESULTS We developed new algorithms and a software tool 'Multiple Genome Aligner' (MGA for short) that efficiently computes multiple genome alignments of large, closely related DNA sequences. For exam...
متن کاملMolecular and Bioinformatics Analysis of Allelic Diversity in IGFBP2 Gene Promoter in Indigenous Makuee and Lori-Bakhtiari Sheep Breeds
The aim of this study was to perform molecular and bioinformatics analysis of IGFBP2 gene promoter in association with some economic traits in indigenous Makuee (MS) and Lori-Bakhtiari (LB) breeds. DNA was extracted from blood samples of 120 MS and 200 LB and a 297 bp fragment from the upstream sequences of studied gene was amplified and genotyped by single-strand conformational polymo...
متن کاملSWPhylo – A Novel Tool for Phylogenomic Inferences by Comparison of Oligonucleotide Patterns and Integration of Genome-Based and Gene-Based Phylogenetic Trees
Modern phylogenetic studies may benefit from the analysis of complete genome sequences of various microorganisms. Evolutionary inferences based on genome-scale analysis are believed to be more accurate than the gene-based alternative. However, the computational complexity of current phylogenomic procedures, inappropriateness of standard phylogenetic tools to process genome-wide data, and lack o...
